This scene, this one panel is probably my favourite of the entire series. (Second is the page with Ushio comforting Maora.)

Maguri, Maora, Ushio, Shizumasa; there is no doubt in my mind that every single one of them would've gone into that building with Haine. The reason they don't? They understand she wants and has to do this alone if she's ever going to truly face her father and try to understand his feelings.

Maguri, who frequently bickers with and insults Haine, is truly fond of her. He covers this up by saying he wants her to be alright for Shizumasa's sake, but it's more than that. Maora's line earlier in the volume: "Even though you were really rude to Haine-chan in the beginning... you still tried to become friends with her in the end." He genuinely disliked her at the beginning of the manga, but things are different by this point. The reasons he had for disliking her, while understandable, were circumstantial, not because of her personality. He was jealous of how close she was with Takanari and Maora and felt second best and considered her his rival. Once he got to know and understand her as a person, and understood that her closeness with Maora and Takanari didn't make either of them care for him any less, he didn't have a reason to hate her anymore.

Here, Maguri is also the most practical of them all - he tells her not to cry because she won't be able to see properly, and tells her to keep her jacket on to protect her from the heat.

Maguri's smile is the most confident of all of them. Back in V6, Haine said they were alike, which Maguri vehemently denied and considered appalling. At this point I think he's proud to be able to think he and Haine share some similarities, because she's an incredibly strong character and he expressed his wish to become stronger so he would be able to protect the one he cared about. He was talking about Maora here, but I reckon he wished to protect the others he cared about too, such as Haine and Takanari (and likely Ushio too, although their relationship is not discussed very much, I think it's safe to assume they are close at this point too))
